Quick and Easy Smokey Eye Makeup for Women Over 50
If you are a mature woman looking for a great smokey eye look, then this tutorial is for you.
I’ll show you how to easily create smokey eyes and finish off the look with a flattering lipstick.
The products I'm using today are from the Look Fabulous Forever range, made specifically for mature skin. However, you can achieve the same results with any brand of product.
Tools and materials:
- Eye primer
- Face primer
- Lip primer
- Translucent powder
- Eyeshadow in light gray, pewter gray, and charcoal shades
- Assorted eyeshadow brushes
- Soft gray eyeliner
- Wedge makeup brush
- Black mascara
- Eyelash curler
- Red lipstick
- Magnifying mirror
- Tissue paper
1. Prep your face
Before starting with the eyeshadow application, ensure you've prepped your face. Apply three primers: eye primer, face primer, and lip primer.
Set everything with translucent powder, including your eyes, to prevent makeup running throughout the day.
2. Apply light gray eyeshadow
Using a large brush, apply a light gray eyeshadow all over your eyelids and eye sockets. This creates a base for the smokey eye look.
Consider using a magnifying mirror for precision.
3. Define your socket
Switch to a new eyeshadow brush and apply a beautiful pewter gray color in the socket line.
Layer the eyeshadow to intensify the look.
Blend it with the light gray using a larger clean eye brush, extending up to the eyebrow line.
4. Add charcoal for depth
Introduce a charcoal eyeshadow to the socket line using a small eyeshadow brush.
Concentrate on the edges to enhance the smokey effect.
Blend the charcoal color with the previous shades for a seamless transition.
5. Apply gray soft eyeliner
Use a gray soft eyeliner for a subtle yet defined look.
Start either near the inside or on the outer edge, depending on your preference.
Apply with a closed or open eye, whichever is more comfortable for you.
6. Set the eyeliner
To ensure the eyeliner stays in place, use a wedge brush and charcoal gray eyeshadow.
Apply the eyeshadow over the eyeliner to fix it and prevent smudging.
7. Enhance your lower lash line
Apply a bit of charcoal eyeshadow underneath your eyes and blend it upward for a more smokey appearance.
Use a cotton bud to correct any mistakes and achieve a clean look.
8. Apply mascara
Apply black mascara in upward strokes to your lashes.
Consider curling your lashes beforehand for an added lift.
