Safety Pins for an Extra Spooky Touch

In this tutorial, I’m going to show you how to add safety pins to your Halloween hair look for an extra spooky touch. Follow along to see exactly how it's done!

Tools and materials: 

  • Hairband
  • Hairbrush
  • Hair ties
  • Bobby pins
  • Safety pins

1. Start the look

Begin your Halloween look by wearing spooky contact lenses, applying face stickers to your lower forehead, putting on some bright red lipstick, and a hairband with devil horns.

2. Comb hair back

Take a small section of hair from each side and brush the hair back across the middle of the hairband. Secure the hair in place with a clip or some bobby pins.

3. Braid hair

Now, take a small section of hair on one side of your head and braid it. Tie the end off with a hair tie.

4. Pull on braid

Gently pull on the braid to make it more voluminous.

5. Insert safety pins

The next step is to insert safety pins into your braid.

6. Criss-cross safety pins

Then, crisscross the safety pins as shown to create X shapes.

Repeat the same steps on the other side, and your spooky Halloween look will be complete.


I love how the safety pins add an edgy touch to the hairstyle, making it perfect for a scary Halloween appearance.
