1. Minimal mascara & bold lips

One of my favorite fall trends this year is the combination of minimal mascara and bold lips. This is a classic and simple fall makeup look.

Bold lips are a staple every autumn! But what makes this 2024 trend unique is how understated the eyes are. This year, it's all about barely-there eye makeup paired with vibrant lips. Just a light coat of mascara, and that’s it for the eyes, letting your lips take center stage.

For bold lips, you’ve got two options: go all in with a pigmented, vibrant look, or tone it down with a sheer wash of color. When I want something bold, I reach for Valentino’s Mini Rosso in 22R, a pink-toned satin red, or 219A, which has that perfect classic orange-red matte finish.

If you’re like me and don’t wear red every day, minis are a great option. I love how you get just the right amount without wasting product.

For a more subtle take, Nars Afterglow Shine lipsticks are fantastic. Voltage is a bright, vivid red I love, but if I’m not feeling quite as bold, I might go for Show Off, a rich mahogany that feels perfect for fall.

2. Boyfriend blush/flushed cheeks

The "Boyfriend Blush" is a makeup trend that has made its way from summer into fall, and it’s not going anywhere. I know the original trend was a little out there, placing blush super low on the cheeks, but it’s evolved into a more wearable look that gives you that fresh-from-the-cold breeze glow.

To achieve this, I focus on the apples of my cheeks and blend horizontally across the bridge of my nose. The key here is blending—a lot! You want it to look like a natural flush, not something painted on.

Applying blush

Cream blushes work best for this. I’m loving Flush Balm in Rouge for that sun-kissed effect.

If you want something pinkier, Milani’s Cream Blush in Coral Crush is great, and for more peachy tones, Rimmel’s Kind & Free Multi Stick in Tangerine Dream does the job.

3. Blurred lips

The blurred lip trend has always fascinated me because it gives off such a romantic, effortless vibe.

This look has been huge in Korea, and I’m so happy it’s catching on here. The idea is to soften the edges of your lips for a dreamy, watercolor-like effect.

One way I love to do this is by applying lipstick with a fluffy eyeshadow brush to get that diffused look.

Creating blurred lips

Another trick is using a lip stain close to my natural lip color, like Wonder Skin’s Whimsical, and gently blurring the edges with a lip liner. Adding gloss on top really amps it up, though the look works just as well matte.

If you’re into unique textures, you have to check out Florasis’ Jade Shine Liquid Lipstick. It’s hard to describe, but it feels like a cross between a stain, a balm, and a gloss. It’s perfect for achieving that soft, diffused effect. My go-to color is G301 Honey Beam—the perfect blend of warmth and subtle shine.

4. Bare face

The bare-face trend has become my go-to for everyday wear. Complexion makeup has shifted so much over the years, moving from super shiny glass skin to the more natural, understated look we’re seeing now.

This fall, it’s all about embracing minimalism and letting your natural skin texture shine through.

For this fall makeup look, I always start with a well-moisturized face, then spot-conceal any areas that need a little extra help. I’ve been loving Merit’s The Minimalist Foundation Stick for its creamy texture and natural finish.

If you’re into a little more glow, Jones Road’s What the Foundation is a great option. I know it’s a bit polarizing, but I’m personally a fan. It gives a really healthy, dewy finish without looking overdone.

If you need a bit more coverage in certain areas, Jones Road’s Face Pencil and L’Oreal True Match Super Blendable Concealer are lifesavers.

They’re perfect for keeping things minimal while covering up any imperfections.
