Why you should have more than one pair of glasses

As a glasses wearer, it's nice to have a change of frames every so often. I have two pairs of glasses: one for everyday use and another pair with a different color for variety.

Think of glasses as an accessory; just like shoes, having options can complement different outfits and makeup looks.

What to consider when you apply makeup as a glasses wearer

Applying makeup when you wear glasses comes with unique challenges. The first is being able to see what you’re doing. A magnifying mirror is a lifesaver, as are flip-up glasses that allow you to work on one eye at a time.

If you struggle with seeing without your glasses, simplify your eye makeup routine and focus on lipstick and blusher to make your face look beautiful.

Why you should find makeup that looks good with your glasses

Frames come in all shapes and sizes, and some glasses are tinted. It's important to choose makeup that complements your frames and enhances your eyes. If you're nearsighted, your lenses might make your eyes look smaller.

Conversely, if you're farsighted, your lenses could make your eyes look larger. Adjust your makeup accordingly.

What makeup to apply when you are short-sighted

For those who are short-sighted, glasses can make your eyes appear smaller. To counteract this, focus on making your eyes look bigger with eyeshadow and liner techniques.

What makeup to apply when you are long-sighted

Long-sighted glasses can magnify your eyes. It's advisable to go easy on the mascara to avoid your lashes brushing against the lenses. Use a soft eyeliner on the lower lash line for definition without overwhelming the eyes.

Easy hack to avoid your glasses removing your makeup on your nose

Glasses can sometimes leave red marks on your nose. To combat this, apply a color balance neutralizer in green on those spots, followed by your foundation or beauty balm. A dab of concealer and a touch of translucent powder will help keep those marks at bay.

How to apply eye makeup for glasses wearers

Today, I've prepared one eye and left the other bare to show you my technique. This quick eye makeup tutorial is perfect for older women.

1. Brows

Eyebrows frame your face and eyes, even if your frames cover them partially. Use a spoolie brush to tidy your brows, then apply Bring Back Brow Shape in brown, especially if you have sparse ends. Brush through with the spoolie again to blend.

2. Eyeshadow

For my eye shadow, I chose a beautiful teal green. Using an eyeshadow brush, apply the color across your eyelid and into the socket line. This shade works well with both cool and warm complexions.

To make your eyes pop, add a layer of Soft Moss Sheer Brilliance lid color. Blend it gently with a concealer brush for a seamless look.

3. Eyeliner

Instead of mascara on the lower lashes, I use a warm taupe soft eyeliner. Apply it halfway along the lower lash line for subtle definition that looks great behind glasses.

4. Mascara

Curl your lashes before applying mascara to help them sweep upwards. This prevents them from touching your lenses and opens up your eyes.

5. Lipstick

A bright lipstick balances your makeup when wearing glasses. Today, I'm using a vibrant fuchsia, which is long-lasting and adds a perfect finishing touch to my look. Don’t shy away from bold colors; they can make a wonderful statement.
