Natural Summer Makeup Look Perfect for Women Over 50

Hello ladies! In this tutorial, I’m going to share with you a natural summer makeup look that is great for women over 50.

Summertime is a beautiful time of year, and that means that we want to look and feel beautiful as well. Follow along as I take you through it step by step!

The products I'm using today are from the  Look Fabulous Forever range, made specifically for mature skin. However, you can achieve the same results with any brand of product.

Tools and materials:

Daily SPF serum

1. Sun cream

First things first, you need to think about protecting your skin from sun damage, which can result in age spots, fine lines, and wrinkles and skin cancer.

After washing your face, start by putting on some sun cream. I use an SPF 50 serum which has a high protection factor in it. Dab it all over your skin and then massage it in.

Applying eye primer

2. Eye primer

Next, apply some primer which will help your makeup to stay in place throughout the day.

Obviously, warm days can mean a bit of perspiration and your makeup can then start sliding off your face, so using a primer will help it to stay in place. Start by applying the primer to your eyelids.

Applying face primer

3. Face primer

Now apply primer to your face. Put some on the back of your hand, dab it all over your face, and then smooth it in.

Applying beauty balm

4. Beauty balm

I like to apply beauty balm as an alternative to foundation during the summer. It's very light and almost like a tinted moisturizer, so it just adds a very nice barely-there veil of color on your face, and it's not too heavy.

If you want a bit more coverage though, then you can mix some foundation in. Apply the balm using a foundation brush and then use a smaller brush to smooth it out.

Applying concealer

5. Concealer

Now apply concealer around your under eyes to cover up any shadows and skin discoloration.

Applying powder

6. Translucent powder

Apply translucent powder to set the makeup.

Applying bronzer

7. Bronzer

Now use some bronzer to apply warmth and glow to your skin. Apply a little bit and then build it up to the color depth that you want.

You want to apply it where you would catch the sun on your face - along your forehead, the tops of your cheekbones and along your jaw.

Applying brow pen

8. Brow pen

Comb your eyebrows out with a spoolie brush and then fill in your eyebrows using some brow color.

The brow color that I have is a liquid with a very fine brush that allows you to paint on fine hairs along your brows, filling in any gaps.

Then use the brow brush again to blend in the liquid so that your brows don’t look too artificial.

Applying eyeshadow

9. Eyeshadow

Now, go in with some eyeshadow. I am applying a lilac shade all over my eyelids and into the socket line.

Applying eyeshadow

Now I’m taking a vibrant blue that matches my top and applying it with a smaller brush from the outer corner of my eyelid into the crease.

This will add some depth. Proceed to blend the two colors together to soften the effect.

Applying eyeliner

10. Eyeliner

Apply some eyeliner along your lower lash line, from the outer corner to ⅔ of the way along. I’m going for one in a soft purple shade, and this adds some definition to my eyes.

Applying mascara

11. Mascara

Next, apply some navy blue mascara.

Adding blusher

12. Blusher

I like to use more vivid blushers in the summer because you have brighter light, so you can go a little bit deeper with your colors. I’m using a beautiful rosy pink powder blusher.

I’m going to take some on my finger and then apply it to the apples of my cheeks and pat it in. Once applied, use a brush to blend it in.

Applying highlighter

13. Highlighter

Dot some highlighter along your brow bone and then pat it in. Also, add some to the top of your cheekbones and in the inner corners of your eyes. Highlighter adds a gorgeous luminosity to whichever parts of your face you apply it to.

Applying lipstick

14. Lipstick

Finish off by applying a nice vibrant pink lipstick. Then take a tissue and blot your lips onto a tissue to remove any excess. Then apply some cool-toned pink lip balm over the top.

I love the bold pink lips, eye color, and cheek blush. My eyebrows are defined and my skin looks smooth and flawless.

I live in NC. When it’s 90 degrees for days on end, this is not a good makeup technique.
