Keeping your hairbrush clean is essential for maintaining healthy hair and scalp. Over time, product build-up, oil, and dirt can accumulate in your brush, making it less effective.

In this tutorial, I'll guide you through a simple and effective hairbrush cleaning method using common household ingredients. With just a few easy steps, your hairbrush will look as good as new!

Tools and materials:

  • Baking soda
  • Apple cider vinegar
  • Bowl
  • Spoon
  • Toothbrush
Measuring baking soda

1. Combine ingredients

Start by combining baking soda, apple cider vinegar, and water in a bowl. Stir the mixture well until the baking soda is fully dissolved.

2. Alternate scrubbing with a toothbrush

Next, take a toothbrush, dip it into the mixture, and start scrubbing the bristles of your hairbrush.

Make sure to alternate between scrubbing with the toothbrush and dipping it back into the cleaning solution to keep the bristles well-coated.

Soaking the hairbrush

3. Soak the brush

Once you’ve scrubbed thoroughly, place your hairbrush into the bowl and let it soak for about 10-15 minutes. Soaking allows the solution to penetrate deeper, loosening any stubborn residue.

4. Rinse and dry

After soaking, remove the brush from the mixture, rinse it well under warm running water, and then place it on a towel to dry.
