1. Prime your eyes
Start off by applying eyeshadow primer so that your eyeshadows stay in place.
Then dab it in with your finger. Wait for the primer to dry completely before starting your dark smokey eye makeup.
2. Place eye makeup tape
Line up your eye makeup tape to create the perfect, winged edge.
This smokey eye tutorial is about to get so much better…because I’ll be using a $3 eyeshadow palette, and you can too!
3. Apply black and deep brown eyeshadows
Pick up black eyeshadow with your index fingers and a deep brown shade with your middle fingers.
Starting with the black eyeshadow, swipe it from the very outer corner and along the eye makeup tape.
Then, starting from the inner corners, swipe the deep brown color right above the black.
4. Achieve an ombre effect
Use your fingers to smudge out the harsh edges.
Then use a concealer brush to further blend, starting with the lighter shade first to achieve a beautiful ombre of shades.
At this point you’re 90% done with this dark smokey eye makeup!
5. Line your eyes
Use black gel eyeliner on a nail art brush to pull out a small wing and line your upper lashes.
6. Clean up
Now remove the tape to reveal your dark smokey eye makeup so far. Then clean up any fallout underneath your eyes with concealer.
7. Line your waterlines
Apply black kohl eyeliner to your waterlines.
8. Smoke out your lower lash lines
Using the brown shade of eyeshadow on a smudge brush, smoke out your lower lash lines. Keep adding eyeshadow until you’re happy with the intensity and it looks soft and smoked out.
9. Curl your lashes
Lift your lashes using an eyelash curler.
10. Darken your lashes
Apply mascara to your eyelashes.
11. Apply false lashes
With the help of tweezers, apply faux lashes according to the instructions in the kit. I like to push my lashes in the outer corner just to get that lifted outer edge.
12. Apply mascara to your lower lashes
Finish off with a coat of mascara on your lower lashes.
Here’s the completed eye look for this super simple, smokey eye tutorial:
As we know, just like magic, makeup is also an illusion and this helps to elongate your eye.
