I love to create jewellery from eco friendly products and these Tagua nut beads are so versatile.

Pumpkin orange Tagua nuts

I chose all one colour and tried to find a pair that would look even in size and shape. These are sliced and dyed pieces of Tagua nut fruit of a palm tree in Ecuador. They are non edible but very hard and durable so make ideal beads.

Round nosed pliers

I prefer to use these round nosed pliers to grip and open and close the jump rings as they are so easy and quick to work with. And I always like to use sterling silver ear hooks to prevent ear irritation.

The beads are pre drilled with holes so it’s just a case of threading the right sized jump ring you’ve opened up with twisting action, into it and closing tight to prevent it falling off.

Jump ring opened

The pumpkin orange is a great colour for this autumn time and is very natural and eye catching.

I thread the jump ring into the sterling silver ear hooks by opening the hook slightly with pliers and then closing it tight to secure. Repeat process for other earring.

The result is super eco friendly pair of earrings!
