If you are heading to the beach anytime soon, you are definitely going to want to check out this easy summer beach cover-up, made with just a simple Walmart beach towel.

Tools and materials:

  • Walmart beach towel
  • Dress for template
  • Scissors
  • Sewing machine
  • Thread
Towel

1. Cut your cover-up pattern

Fold your beach towel in half, so there’s enough width for two sides of a dress (front and back) and the pattern is running the way you would like for your cover-up.

Note that often, the edge of the beach towel can make a great hemline for your cover-up.

A dress over the towel

Lay an existing dress on top of the towel to use as a template for your cover-up.

Cutting the towel

Cut two matching pieces (front and back) from your beach towel.

Cutting the towel

Adjust the neckline if you want it a bit deeper than your dress template.

Clipping the towel

2. Sew your cover-up

With right sides together, sew the shoulders and side seams of your cover-up.

It's a pretty idea, but we don't do anything to prevent fraying of the neckline or armholes? Just leave them cut out? By the way, I love the beach bag tutorial. While I no longer go to the beach (the parking!!!), your pattern and explanation are going to be very useful to me in making cloth shopping bags!
