In this tutorial, I have a hairstyle to show you that combines braids with waves and a high-ponytail.

All three elements come together to create a gorgeous look. You can try this hairstyle for your next concert or festival. Let’s get started!

Tools and materials:

  • Hair clip
  • Comb
  • Hair elastics
  • Hair tie
  • Hair iron
Clipping front section

1. Clip front section

Start by clipping up the front section of your hair so that it is out of the way.

Tying pigtails

2. Tie pigtails

Part your hair down the center and tie two high pigtails.

Braiding

3. Braid front section

Let the front section of hair down, divide it in two, and braid each side.

Tie the bottom of each braid with a hair elastic.

Crossing braids over

4. Cross over the braids

Cross the braids over one another to create an X shape.

Passing pigtails through gap

5. Pass pigtails through gap

Make a gap in each braid and pass the pigtails through the gaps.

Tying pigtails together

6. Tie pigtails together

Tie the two pigtails together at the top of your head. Then, wrap some hair around the hair tie to conceal it.

Curling hair

7. Curl hair

Finish off by curling the high-ponytail that you have just created as well as the rest of your hair.

Here is the finished look on our mannequin. I adore the criss-cross braids at the front of the head. They’re super unique, and I’ve never seen them before.

The high ponytail with the waves in it is super cute, and all in all, I can’t get enough of this hairstyle.
