Upcycling Old Denim Pants Into a New Cute Crop Top
Do you have an old pair of denim pants that, for whatever reason, you’re not wearing anymore? Don’t throw them away!
Here, I’m going to show you how to upcycle old denim pants into a new cute crop top. Let me show you what to do.
Tools and materials:
- Denim jeans
- Scissors
- Sewing machine
- Fabric marker
- Eyelet
- String
1. Cut pants
Cut off the bottom of the pants.
2. Draw and cut design
On the bottom of the pants, draw a sort of bat-wing design. Then, proceed to cut along the lines.
Open the jeans up, and this is what it will look like.
3. Cut open shorts
Moving to the top of the shorts, cut open the top of the jeans as we’re going to create a skirt.
4. Sew the hem
Sew around the outside of the top to hem it.
5. Add string
Add eyelets to the side and the top of the top, and then thread string or laces through.
The top will lace up at the back like this.

Here is the finished look. I sewed the bottom of the shorts to turn them into a skirt.
And I really adore the top - the batwing shape is really funky and unique. If you have a pair of old denim pants, this is a great DIY that you can do with them.
