DIY Pride Parade Fit

by Kelsey Reese

There are so many Pride events taking place over the summer that I want to make outfits for.

This is a simple top that can be worn in different ways. Choose your favorite colors and let’s get going.

Tools and materials:

  • 3 stretch tank or camisole tops in different colors
  • Scissors
  • Measuring tape
  • Pins
  • Sewing machine
Cami tops

1. Choose your colorway

Grab a selection of tank or camisole tops in different colors and choose a selection that goes together well.

Cutting the top

2. Mark and cut

Lay one of the tops flat and line up the edges.

Mark or draw a line straight across, just under the armholes.

Top

Cut through both layers.

Repeat for the other two tops.

Wearing the tops

3. Try on

Wear all three tubes of fabric together.

Decide on the order you want them in and how wide you want each stripe to be.

Fabric strips

Cut each layer to the width you like. I made mine all the same width but you could vary this.

If you need to take them in at the sides, do this now too.

Stacked tube tops

4. Sew

Sew the strips together at the sides and optionally across the back as well.

Adding bows

5. Tie

Cut a strip of each color from the remaining fabric.

Knot them in the center of one or all of the strips and tie in a bow, or tuck the ends inside.

It’s up to you how many different colors you want to include in your top. I think three look great but you could make a rainbow top in the same way.

Drop me a line below and let me know what you think of this.
