Tools and materials:

  • Tube top
  • Bandana
  • Scissors
  • Sewing machine/needle and thread
  • Knitting needle
Measuring shoulders

1. Measure

Put on the tube top and measure from the top edge of the shirt to your shoulder and add 3-4 inches to the measurement.

Cutting the fabric

2. Cut

Cut 8 strips of fabric from the bandana at the measured length and with a width of 2-3 inches. Taper the top edge of each strip to come to a point.

Sewing

3. Sew

Take 2 strips and lay them together with the right sides facing in. Sew them together leaving only the bottom edge open. Repeat this step on the rest of the strips so you have 4 pieces at the end.

Sewing

4. Flatten

Use a knitting needle to turn each strip right side out.

Ironing the fabric

Then iron them flat.

Adding the straps

5. Pin and sew

Pin the ends of each strap to the tube top at the places where tank top straps would be. Then sew each in place.

Bandana strap top

6. Tie

Put on the tube top and tie the front and back straps together on each side.

That looks really cute on you. I’ve made pillows out of the bandana’s before.
