4 SUMMER OUTFITS FOR 2024

Summer is probably most women's favourite season to dress up for, and although I love the oversized knits and classic boots of winter, I have to say I'm excited to finally be able to wear pretty dresses again! Here is some outfit inspiration for you whatever you've got planned this summer.

The ROXIEYY dress from Ted Baker is well established in my summer wardrobe. I love the length, which hits my ankle just right so I can wear flats or heels, making it the perfect option for a day trip to London where I want to look stylish and still be comfortable. (Be aware I am only 5 feet tall so this may be more of a midi style on you!)

I usually stick to medium crossbody bags for city trips, as you don't want to be encumbered with a huge bag all day, but I actually really enjoyed using my Marks and Spencers straw tote for this particular trip. I take a 3 hour long coach to London (so 6 hours total travelling) so I want plenty of items with me to keep me entertained, and the average crossbody can get a bit too stuffed and actually end up more cumbersome than a bigger bag because I'm playing Tetris trying to get everything to fit back in! This tote bag is small enough not to be too much hassle on the tube but big enough for a magazine, a book and all my portable chargers. (I don't want to lose battery as my e-tickets are all on my phone!)

(I have linked updated versions of the dress and bag.)

This is another old favourite Ted Baker dress ( similar option from Reiss linked here) and I love putting this on on hot days. Yes, we do get the odd hot day in England! Because of the style of the neckline, I don't feel it's necessary to always wear a bra with this dress, and you know how uncomfortable a bra can get during a heatwave.

I love pairing white dresses with tan accessories like my Loewe skinny belt and my new Ted Baker camera bag. I love the statement strap on this bag which adds interest to a simple outfit.

The beauty of a white halter mini dress is that the length keeps it youthful and fun but is balanced out by the more demure, yet still contemporary and stylish, neckline. I wore this dress for a pretty normal day out with my husband but I am also planning to wear it to afternoon tea at Blenheim Palace this summer, which I think it will be perfect for.

I love to rewear my pieces so I'm again carrying the Ted Baker STUNNA bag here. It is England so it's not unheard of for me to wear lightweight knits in summer, on milder days. I love knitwear and closed-toe shoes for a summer day when I know it might rain.

There used to be a general consensus that you shouldn't wear brown and black together but I think black and tan look so good together! Anyway, one of my dogs is black and tan, so clearly it's a very chic look!

Run, don't walk, to Mango as this black knit top with white piping detail is now in the sale. Mango are an excellent brand for elevated pieces that don't break the bank. Our weather was a little all over the place this Spring but as you can see I've worn this top in Summer and I'm expecting to. bring it out a lot in Autumn as well.

Remember in the first Sex and the City movie, when Jennifer Hudson's character used to rent designer bags (and then Carrie bought her the most godawful Louis Vuitton for Christmas? Why do you hate Louise, Carrie?)?

Well, anyway, it's a real thing! If you're a fan of a particular designer bag but can't afford it just yet, you can actually trial run the real thing by signing up to companies like HURR and By Rotation. I had the Jacquemus Le Chiquito Moyen bag on my wishlist for so long and recently rented it from HURR. I'm so glad I got the chance to try it out as, although I loved how it looked with this green knit dress from French Connection and a classic pair of black slingback heels, it confirmed to me that I actually don't want to pay hundreds of pounds to add this slightly impractical bag to my wardrobe. It's just not big enough for my needs.
