How to Make the Coolest Lace Shorts
I’m going to show you guys how to make the coolest lace shorts. The style is a unique blend of classic soft feminine mixed with a modern edge. The best part is they are unbelievably easy to make.
Tools and materials:
- Lace
- Denim
- Scissors/rotary cutter
- Pins
- Safety pin
- Elastic waistband
- Sewing machine
1. Tracing your pattern
Take your lace, fold it in half, and lay it out on a flat surface. Grab a pair of loose-fitting shorts and fold them in half, folding the back sides facing each other.
Lay the shorts on the lace and use them to trace out half of your pattern. Fold the shorts the other way, with the front sections facing in and lay them on the lace. Trace and cut for the other half of the pattern.
2. Sew
Pin and sew the pieces together. Overlock all the edges.
Fold the top of the shorts in about an inch and a half and sew. This will be the waistband. Take a piece of elastic cut to your waist size and use a safety pin to thread it through the waistband.
3. Varsity-style applique
Now for the fun part. Take a piece of denim fabric and cut out varsity-style numbers or letters. I used my birth year.
Sew them across the front of the shorts.
