What You Need to Make Candy Cane Earrings:

How to Make Jewelry Inspired by Candy Canes:

STEP ONE

Pre-heat the oven to 275 degrees. Open the two packages of Sculpey III Polymer clay in White and Berry. Pinch off a bit as big as your thumb, and knead once or twice. Using the Sculpey Tools Work Mat as a base, roll out each color, with your fingers, into a long snake. Make sure that each snake is the same thickness. Line them up next to each other on the Work Mat.

STEP TWO

Carefully twist the two colored snakes together to create a swirled design. Twist as evenly as possible so that once rolled again the pattern will look just like a candy cane. Repeat with a second twist.

STEP THREE

Roll both of the twisted sections into a smooth snake with your fingers. Take your time when rolling to create two evenly shaped snakes, and retain the traditional candy cane pattern.

STEP FOUR

Measure and cut both snakes into three-inch sections with the blade from the Sculpey Tools Essential Tool Kit. These two snakes will make four candy canes total or two pairs of earrings.

STEP FIVE

Insert the three-inch sections of patterned polymer clay into the silicone candy mold. Press gently to create the shape of the candy cane, but not hard enough to transfer the silicone mold pattern into the clay.

STEP SIX

Carefully transfer the silicone mold onto a metal baking sheet and bake according to the directions on the Sculpey III package. Once baked, always allow the polymer clay to cool before handling.

STEP SEVEN

Remove the cooled polymer clay candy canes from the silicone mold by pressing up gently from the bottom. These silicone molds from DOllar Tree come in all shapes and styles for each of the holidays.

STEP EIGHT

Using a small dab of E6000 Jewelry & Bead Adhesive on the base of the earring post, attach to the back of the polymer clay candy cane and allow the glue to set for 24 hours. Make a pair to keep and a pair to give away this holiday season.
