Easy DIY Tutorial: How to Make Waistband Smaller Without Sewing
Especially if you’re an hourglass shape, you probably have at least one pair of pants that fit you well around the hips but are too big at the waist.
Today, I’m going to show you how to make a waistband smaller without sewing.
Tools and materials:
- Too large pants
- Scissors
- Narrow elastic
- Large safety pin
1. Snip
Mark two points on the inside waistband either side of the front opening.
Use sharp pointed scissors to snip a small hole in the inside layer of the waistband at each point.
2. Elastic
Cut a length of narrow elastic that fits comfortably around your waist plus an extra 12 inches or so.
Fasten a safety pin through one end of the elastic.
3. Thread
Use the safety pin to thread the elastic through the waistband at the first snip.
4. Knot
Pull the elastic out of the second hole you made and tie a knot in each end.
5. Wear
Wear your pants but don't fasten them completely.
Pull on the two ends of the elastic until the pants fit comfortably around your waist.
6. Tie
Tie the ends of the elastic into a bow.
7. Tuck
Fasten your pants and tuck the ends of the bow inside.
