Easy to Follow Lush Bath Bomb Recipe
Do you love those amazing bath bombs from Lush? I absolutely adored the “Phoenix Rising” bath bomb but unfortunately, it was discontinued. Not to worry though, I’ve figured out a very close Lush bath bomb recipe. So, if you’d like to learn how to make this Lush bath bomb stick around.
Tools and materials:
- Bowls
- Whisk
- Spoon
- Citric acid
- Corn starch
- Baking soda
- Cassia oil
- Coconut oil
- Purple food coloring
- Cinnamon sticks
- Gold Luster
- Paintbrush
1. Combine the dry ingredients
In a bowl, combine 1 cup of citric acid with ½ cup of corn starch (the corn starch helps to make your bath bomb stick together). Then add 1 cup of baking soda. Combining citric acid and baking soda is how your bath bomb will fizz. Take a whisk and mix all the ingredients together.
2. Combine the wet ingredients
Move the dry ingredients aside and grab a new bowl to mix the wet ingredients. In this bowl, add 1/2 teaspoon of cassia oil (also known as cinnamon oil). Then pour in half a cup of melted coconut oil. The coconut oil must be completely melted otherwise it won’t work. Mix your oils together.
3. Mix the two together
Next, add the wet mixture to the dry one and combine everything really well. When you’re done mixing you should have a consistency that resembles moon sand. When you compact it together it sticks but it will still crumble apart when you release your hold.
4. Add coloring
Next, take some purple food coloring, or another color of your choice and add it to your mixture. The actual bath bomb from Lush is a pretty dark purple.
Mix that all together with a whisk. It might take a bit to get it all mixed together nicely but eventually, it will happen, and you’ll start to see a nice color.
5. Mold the bath bomb
As for the mold, this specific bath bomb is in a cup type of shape. So what I did was just use an old Lush container to mold this DIY lush bath bomb. It worked perfectly.
To do this, carefully spoon a little of the mixture into the cup and make sure you really pack it in there. In this bath bomb, there are cinnamon sticks which add a nice cinnamon scent. So I’m going to break a few apart and put them on that first layer.
Then you can go ahead and add the rest of the mixture. Make sure you pack it in really well. I found that using the back of the spoon helps to do this. Once your cup is completely full, it’s time to take your bath bomb out. Flip your cup over and gently pat the top and then lift the cup up carefully and there is your bath bomb. Then let that sit a day or two till it’s completely hard.
6. Add gold luster
To make your bath bomb look just like the Phoenix Rising one, take some gold luster and either sprinkle or paint it on. Once you’re finished your bath bomb is ready and you’re ready to take a very relaxing and foamy bath with some fabulous aromas.
Lush bath bomb recipe
I hope you enjoyed my DIY Lush bath bomb recipe. It’s just like the Lush one except it's so much cheaper.
It also smells so much like the Phoenix Rising bath bomb; it has that really warm cinnamon scent and it’s just so relaxing. When you put it into the water it makes your water a really pretty purple color and the coconut oil in it makes your skin feel so soft.
I had such fun making this DIY and I’m thrilled with the final product. I hope you’ll give it a try! Let me know how you get on in the comments.
