Learn How to Make Your Lips Bigger With This Quick and Easy Hack

As you’ll see, I have very thin lips, but I shy away from overlining because it doesn’t work for me. Follow along to learn how to make your lips appear bigger using cleverly applied makeup.

Tools and materials:

• Concealer
• Foundation brush
• Lip liner/lipstick with brush or brow pencil
• Cotton swab
• Lipstick
• Flat brush
• Clear lip gloss

To plump my lips, I’m going to use an underlining technique instead of overlining. Let’s get started!

1. Apply concealer on the sides of your lips

First, apply concealer on the sides of your lips to make it appear shorter.

After putting a tad on either side, blend it in with a foundation brush.

The effect will be to make your lips appear shorter on the sides, which will give the illusion of making them look plumper at the center.

2. Partially line your lips

For this step, you can use lip liner, lipstick with a brush or a brow pencil. I’ll be using this fine tipped brow pencil for this big lips makeup hack since it doesn’t bleed at the edges.

This is especially useful if you have fine lines at the edges of your lips where other products tend to bleed.

Start at the center, lining your cupid’s bow as well as the bottom, center of your lower lip. We are specifically avoiding lining all around the lips, which would make them appear wider and narrower.

3. Use a cotton swab to help line a bit more

A fun makeup hack to avoid lining the edges of your lips is to hold a cotton swab between them.

Then line the rest of your lips until your pencil meets the cotton swab on either side, avoiding the edges of your lips.

Thicken that border a tad, toward the inside of the lip.

After removing the cotton swab, you can see that my lips appear wider at the center.

4. Apply lipstick

Next, apply lipstick within the borders that you drew. I chose a terracotta nude shade.

5. Clean up the edges

I recommend using a flat brush with concealer to clean up the edges.

6. Apply clear lip gloss

For the finishing touch, apply a clear lip gloss on top of your lip color, focusing mostly at the center of your lips. Then just spread it slightly to the edges.
