Follow along for some easy and adorable hairstyles for fine hair. I have 4, celebrity approved hairstyles to show you for fine, thin hair, so dive in and choose your favorite!
I have fine hair, which means that the individual strands are skinny. My hair density is medium, meaning that I have an average amount of hair per square inch of scalp.

I have some thinning in the front.
To prove that my hair really is fine, see how my entire head of hair can be held up by a tiny claw clip:
Safa’s bubble braid
This hairstyle for fine hair is inspired by Safa from Dubai Bling.
1. Part your hair down the middle
Section off a middle part from your face to the nape of your neck.
Temporarily clip half of the hair on 1 side.
2. Make small ponytails
Use colorful hair elastics to make small ponytails, adding more hair with each new ponytail.
Brush out the tail as you go to keep the hair smooth.
Pull at each section to achieve the bubble effect. Don’t wait until the end to do this!
Stop adding elastics when you reach this point:
Repeat on the other side, making sure the bubble sections are even on both sides.
3. Finishing touches
Apply hairspray for extra hold.
I like to disguise thinning areas with scalp foundation. You can also use matte eyeshadow that matches your hair.
Avoid covering up part lines, since that won’t look natural. Cover up the areas of your scalp that should have hair but don’t.

Ariana Grande-inspired 90s throwback
1. Part your hair
Create a super deep side part.
2. Make a half ponytail, make it slick and accessorize
Section off the front and pull the hair behind it in a high, half ponytail.
Pull the ponytail tightly.
Run a fine toothed comb through the hair that you sectioned off and spray with hairspray so it’s sleek. Tuck it behind your ear.
Leave it like this or add a huge, silk bow clip if that’s your style.
3. Backcomb
Backcomb the ponytail to add body.

Lightly textured half-up hairstyle
1. Crimp your hair in sections with a flat iron
Temporarily clip up the top section of your hair. Then grab your first section of hair by your face and rock it back and forth in the flat iron to give texture but not curls.
Not sure what I mean? See the video at 7:10 -7:17. Work section by section to lightly crimp the hair in the flat iron. Take out the clipped hair and crimp it in sections as well.
2. Make 2 braids
Take a section of hair just beyond the face-framing area and make a small, 3-strand braid.
While holding the end, pull at the sections for volume. Then secure the end with a clear hair elastic.
Repeat on the other side, joining it to the first braid in the back, through the elastic.
3. Apply texture spray
For a lived-in vibe, pull your hair to the sides and apply some texture spray. This works well in a hairstyle for thin, fine hair to add some grit to your strands.
4. Accessorize
Finish off this fine hair look with a bow.
Ashley Graham-inspired updo
1. Section off your face-framing hair
Section off your face-framing hair and clip it in the front.
2. Make 2 ponytails
When you want to create a high bun, start with 2 ponytails instead of 1.
Then make a ponytail directly under it.
3. Make quick, flat iron curls
If I were to just wrap the ponytails, I would have the wimpiest bun ever due to my fine hair! Instead, spray your ponytails with some hairspray.
Grab a flat iron and twist small sections around it to make curls. There’s no need to make them perfect.
4. Backcomb the lower ponytail
Then use a fine toothed comb to backcomb the lower ponytail. This will make a “cushion of hair” to give the illusion of more density.
5. Make a bun and secure it
Twist the ponytails around on the back of your head until you get the desired shape. Stick bobby pins in it to secure the bun and leave out some of the ends for a touch of effortlessness.
6. Curl the face-framing hair
Use your flat iron to carefully curl your face-framing hair away from your face, releasing the hair before reaching the end.
The result is a soft bend without it looking like a ringlet.
Add a statement headband to complete the look:
