Cute and Simple Gray Manicure Tutorial

Check out how I create this moody, neutral gray manicure. You can get the same look if you follow along with this basic, nail care routine. Let’s get started!

Tools and materials:

  • Nail file
  • Almond cuticle oil 
  • Cuticle tool
  • Cotton balls
  • Nail polish remover
  • Nail strengthener
  • Gray polish
  • Clear top coat
Filing nails

1. File your nails

Start off by filing your nails to your preferred shape.


2. Apply cuticle oil

Next, protect your cuticles by applying almond cuticle oil.

3. Push your cuticles

Now that your cuticles are soft, use a cuticle tool to gently push them to allow the polish to sit better on your nails.

4. Wipe down your nails

Dip a cotton ball in nail polish remover and clean the surface of all your nails to remove excess oil and dust.

5. Apply nail strengthener

Next, paint on a layer of nail straightener.

6. Apply gray polish

Next, apply a layer of gray polish.


The kind I’m using here is not a gel polish, but if applied correctly it can last a fairly long time.

7. Apply top coat

Once your gray polish is mostly dry, apply a clear, top coat.

8. Apply more cuticle oil

Once your nails are dry, apply cuticle oil again and rub it gently into your cuticles.

It’s easy to polish off your look with a neutral, gray manicure. There’s no need to commit to a gel regimen to enjoy beautiful nails.
