Turn an Old Sheet Into a Cover-up

Here’s one less item you’ll need to buy for your summer wardrobe! Follow along with this step-by-step tutorial to turn an old sheet into a unique cover-up for the pool or beach.

Tools and materials: 

  • Sheet
  • Scissors
  • Fabric glue
  • Thin rope
  • Clear tape
  • Safety pin

1. Cut off 2 corners

Cut off 2 corners of the sheet.

2. Glue down the edges with a gap

Apply a line of fabric glue along each cut edge.

Fold each over, gluing them down to the fabric but leaving a gap through which to thread a cord.

3. Thread a cord through each gap

Cut 2 long pieces of soft cord and wrap one end of each piece of clear tape. Then attach a safety pin through the tape for each.

Thread this through the gap you made in the previous step. Repeat on the other side and tie the loose ends into secure bows.

4. Wear

Put your arms through the rope straps and wrap the fabric around your torso.
