3 Super Easy DIY Self-care Products
Recently, I’ve been fed up with cosmetic companies advertising products full of chemicals, so I decided to make a change to benefit my personal health.
Did you know that you can DIY your own self-care products at home with natural components?
Gather the above ingredients and follow along to make honey and coffee body scrubs as well as a DIY natural deodorant.
Tools and materials:
2 glass containers for storage
1 spoon
Honey body scrub:
1/4 cup olive oil
1 cup cane sugar
2 tablespoons organic honey
Essential oil
Coffee body scrub:
2 tablespoons ground coffee
2 tablespoons coconut oil
Natural deodorant:
12 grams coconut oil (2.63 teaspoons)
8 grams shea butter (1.79 teaspoons)
10 grams bicarbonate (2.09 teaspoons)
10 grams cornflour (2.69 teaspoons)
Honey body scrub
1. Add sugar
Sugar is a natural way to penetrate the skin and generate a fresh glowing look. Pour about 1 cup of cane sugar into your glass container.
2. Add honey
Add about 2 tablespoons of organic honey on top of the sugar.
3. Add oils
I’m adding a few drops of orange essential oil because I like the pairing with the honey aroma.
This is an optional step, and you can choose whichever kind you prefer.
Then, add in ¼ cup olive oil, which has anti-aging benefits, plus it’s an excellent remedy for stretch marks.
Mix well. You may add more sugar if you find that the texture isn’t grainy enough.
Now your natural body scrub is ready to use!
Applying a sugar scrub helps to hydrate the skin and keeps moisture locked in.
Coffee body scrub
This scrub helps to reduce the look of cellulite using a very simple recipe.
1. Measure coffee grounds
Scoop two spoons of ground coffee into your container. Here I’m using Turkish coffee, but you can use any type of ground coffee.
2. Add coconut oil
Add in 2 tablespoons of coconut oil. This ingredient provides vitamin E as well as antioxidants which helps to protect your skin.
It cleans and tones the skin, moisturizes and helps with stretch marks.
Mix well and your DIY coffee body scrub is ready to use.
DIY natural deodorant
1. Start with your dry ingredients
Measure about 10 grams of bicarbonate (baking soda) into a medium sized bowl. Then add 10 grams of cornflour.
2. Add coconut oil
Now add 12 grams of coconut oil to the same bowl.
3. Add shea butter and essential oil
Add 8 grams of shea butter to the mixture as well as a few drops of essential oil in whatever scent you prefer.
Mix until combined.
Pour into a glass container to store.
