Pajamas As Daywear

When the pandemic struck four year ago, isolating at home meant not having to get dressed to go out anywhere. We became a world of pajama people. We also realized the comfort our PJs brought us – so soft, so warm, so loose and forgiving of the extra COVID weight we put on from stress eating. Now that the world has rebounded and returned to our usual hectic lives of running from here to there, we must wear regular clothes again. Or do we?

What if there was a way to keep wearing our pajamas, our old friends who held us through such a troubling time? I put together some outfits using my favorite pajamas to offer inspiration on those days when you need a little safety blanket when you go out.

Pajamas For Pants

Lately, I’ve seen a lot of teenagers sporting pajama pants with fun prints as daywear. I’ve often thought that pajamas come in such cute prints. It’s a shame they’re regulated to bedtime. It got me thinking: why not wear them out? Though I see most teens wear them with t-shirts and Crocs shoes, which does make it look like you rolled out of bed and went out like that, why not dress them up with a nice blouse and block heels? Choose a print, maybe a little more on the adult side, such as a paisley or floral print, and depending on the weather, go with a light cotton or cozy flannel material. You’ll be comfy all day long! Shop pajama pants.

Nightgown As A Dress

Nothing feels more luxurious and sexy than slipping on a buttery-soft satin or silk nightgown. Again, it seems sad to have such an item hidden in your bedroom. With the rising trend of slip dresses, these once unmentionables now get center stage as daywear. Find an elegant satin or silk nightgown, throw on a pair of heels, and you have a sexy – and comfortable - look for hitting the town! If modesty is an issue, layer it with a cardigan sweater over the top or a tank or t-shirt underneath. Shop nightgowns.

Robe As A Duster

Layered looks with dusters and kimonos are growing increasingly popular as a way to jazz up a simple outfit, and cover some of those trouble areas on your body that you may be self-conscious about. Robes in pretty prints are the perfect solution that can work double-time as indoor loungewear or outdoor daywear. Be sure to look for light cotton or polyester fabrics that drape nicely over other clothes instead of thicker options like terrycloth or waffle-style textures that look like you just got out of the shower. Wear them open style or without the belt to give a free-flowing boho touch to any outfit. Shop robes.

Now that you know some ways to wear your pajamas as daywear, will you try it?
