WEDDING GUEST OUTFIT IDEAS

Wedding season is the best season! There's no opportunity the average style-lover looks forward to more to get dressed up, go all matchy-matchy with accessories and spill prosecco all over her carefully selected dress. Ted Baker is the ideal brand for wedding guest outfits and I've selected the best of their 2024 sale for you.

All of these dresses work well with plain accessories. I chose black shoes but any neutral colour would do, especially nude or white for the lighter-coloured dresses.

Blush pink is a popular shade among girly girls but can sometimes look bridal. If you're not a fan of Barbie hot pink (I am), why not go for a more timeless dusky pink instead? This is probably my favourite shade of pink and it's one you don't see as often. I love Ted Baker's Roxieyy dress as it is such a nice length, hitting just at the ankle so you can wear with either flats or heels, and you can tie the belt tightly to show off your figure (then loosen after the wedding breakfast...)

Style with white accessories to make the pink really pop, or sparkly flat sandals if you're hitting the dancefloor all night.

I don't hold with this old-fashioned idea that you can't wear white to a wedding, particularly if it's short and floral - people are hardly going to get you mixed up with the bride. I love how the Jaliyaa dress from Ted Baker looks with black heels - it works well with the muted colours from the pattern and we all have a trusty pair of black shoes in our wardrobe, meaning we don't have to buy a whole new outfit.

I would encourage raiding your own wardrobe for any event before heading out and buying something new, as you'll probably have more options than you think! The Jaliyaa dress is particularly beautiful but any floral chiffon mini dress you already own will likely be perfect for a wedding.

Those of you who are sick of Barbiecore, look away now. Personally I am happy to keep wearing hot pink until the end of time as it's such a fun colour! It's also great on paler skintones like mine, as it warms up our skin rather than washing us out like many of the classic summer colours. (Sage green, pale yellow and blush pink, anyone...?)

Nude accessories would work well with the bright pink of this angel-sleeve Sangro dress from Ted Baker, making sure all the attention is on the dress. As the colour already makes a statement, I wouldn't recommend wearing a hat or fascinator as that could look a little OTT.

Ah, the dreaded black tie invitation. What on earth do you wear?! No one wants to go to a bridal shop and buy what is basically a prom dress that they'll never wear again. Enter Ted Baker, an excellent brand for dressing up while still looking contemporary.

The Arikaa dress is a mass of heavenly organza, creating drama with every step you take. Personally I would let this dress create its own flair but if you want to run with the couture theme, add a structurally-interesting fascinator and some embellished heels such as the Sophia Webster Evangeline heels. Again, I've simply styled it here with plain black slingbacks, since the dress itself makes enough of a statement and is so long that you would rarely see the shoes anyway.

I hope I have given you lots of inspiration for any upcoming weddings you are attending!
