Make Your New Favorite Summer Top Out of a Scarf

I love finding new ways to use beautiful scarves.

Here’s a one-shouldered top that you can wear with or without a cap sleeve.

A silk scarf in a striking print works best for this look.

Tools and materials:

Silk scarf

1. Fold

Make sure your scarf is large enough before you start.

Folding the scarf

Fold it diagonally into a triangle.

2. Wrap

Hold the folded edge diagonally across the front of your body.

Wrap one of the shorter edges around your waist.

Tying the scarf

Knot the ends together firmly around your waist.

Swivel the knot to the center back.

3. Scarf ring

Lift the folded edge diagonally up to your shoulder.

Scarf ring

Slip a scarf ring over the free end.

Adding the scarf ring

Pull it through until the ring rests just below the front of your shoulder. Keep hold of the free end.

Tying the scarf

4. Knot

Take the free end over your shoulder.

Twisting the end around itself at this stage also looks good if you don’t want the cap sleeve effect.

Tuck the corner under the existing knot and tie it to the free ends of the knot.

Adjusting the scarf

Optionally, pull the fabric above the ring over your shoulder to make a cap sleeve.

The cap sleeve is an unusual touch that I really like.

You can fold the bottom edge up if you prefer a cropped look or adjust the height of the front.

It’s a simple and versatile style and I’d love to know in the comments what you think of it.
