This is the typical way that ties are knotted, a simple double knot. This causes a large and bulky knot that can throw off your whole outfit!

Start by taking the belt into one hand and wrapping it overtop. This will be the side that the loop is created on to secure your tie.

Now that your first wrap is complete, create a second wrap in the same direction. You should now have two wrapped portions around your hand.

From the same side of the belt, take the end and push it through the wrapped portion that is around your hand. Work from the outside and feed it through towards the opposite side (e.g., if you created the wrap around your right hand, then feed the tail from right to left).

Now take the loose end of the belt from the opposite side that you have not touched yet.

Feed it through the loop that you've created and pull it through to the other side.

Now take both tails of the belt and pull them until your knot is secured. You'll notice that it's very neat and clean looking. You can play around with the knot to align the fabric and straighten it out to get clean edges.

Here is the final result, a clean and low profile knot that will keep your belt in place! Say no to sloppy belts and try this out next time you grab your coat!
