Easy Heatless Curls Method: Victorian Rag Curls
I’m going to make Victorian rag curls and guide you through the process.
I’ve never actually done heatless overnight curls, so I’m excited to experiment and learn a new curling method together with you.
Let’s figure out how to create heatless overnight curls.
Tools and materials:
- Strips of rags
- Hair oil
- Leave-in conditioner
1. Cut your rag strips
Take some old washcloths and cut them into strips. We’ll be using these as curlers for rag curls loose and easy.
2. Slightly dampen your hair
Before I start I’m going to dampen my hair very slightly with some leave-in conditioner. This will help make the effect more pronounced.
Next, you can smooth your hair with some oil too to prevent frizz.
3. Roll your hair around the cloth strips
Start by separating your hair into sections. Take a section and hold the center of the strip to the end of the hair.
Then roll up so the hair is being rolled around the cloth strip.
Once you’ve rolled all the way to the scalp, tie the ends of the strip in a knot to hold everything in place.
Repeat this on all the sections of hair until everything is curled and held with the rags.
4. Sleep on it
Now that you’ve gotten all your rags tied in place it’s time for the real work to begin.
The key to this method is time. Go to sleep and let the rags work their magic overnight.
5. Release and brush
When you wake up in the morning, you can untie the rags and release the curls.
Brush your hair. This will break up the curls a bit and create a wavy 1930s movie star look.
You can put some oil on your hands and run that through your hair.
With this style of hair it’s all about working through and manipulating the curls and waves until you achieve the look you love.
