2. Sew the shirt

Flip the shirt inside out. Pin the open side seam where the arm was cut off. Sew the seam using a straight stitch.

3. Adjust the top

Try the top on. Here this top was a bit too big for me so I cut the sewn side seam. I removed the extra fabric and sewed it down to make it fit better for me.

4. Finish the top

For a professional and polished edge, hem all the cut edges and sew them down. This may be perfect for you. But for me, I cut the top too short even though it is a crop top so I added a bottom.

Making a bottom belt for the DIY crop top

To make a bottom belt, take the bottom part that was cut off at the beginning. Cut a side seam to open the loop and lay flat. Cut the fabric in half lengthwise. Fold and pin in place. Sew in a straight stitch.

Cutting off the excess seam allowance

Remove the excess seam allowance. Make sure the right side is facing up. Sew it again and flip it right side out. Tie a knot on either end of the belt.

Pinning the belt to the back of the crop top

Sew the belt on the back of the top in a square.
