Here's what you need to make a Custom Colored Tassel

Here's how to create a Ribbon Tassel

STEP ONE

Select a variety of Tombow Dual Brush Pens in the custom colors that you would like to tint your lace, ribbons, and trims. I love making a color swatch chart for color-matching reference. Tombow Dual Brush Pens are my favorite markers because they have a large brush tip for lettering and a smaller bullet tip for coloring and come in 108 bright and vibrant colors.

STEP TWO

Select one color of Dual Brush Pen and generously scribble the color onto the Blending Palette. Spray the ribbon and the blending palette with water, then dip the ribbon in the color. Twist and scrunch until the ribbon is completely colored. Set aside to dry. Repeat with each color of Dual Brush Pen and each section of lace, ribbon, and trim.

STEP THREE

Once dry, fold the sections of lace, ribbon, and trim into equal lengths, holding place with a binder clip, if necessary. I love the colors and textures in this bundle of fibers.

STEP FOUR

Using the custom-colored embroidery floss, tightly wrap around the bundle of fibers. Secure with a knot, making sure that the bundle is not larger than the tassel cap.

STEP FIVE

Fill the metal tassel cap with MONO Multi Liquid Glue and then insert the tied end of the fiber bundle into the cap. Set aside to allow the glue to dry.

I love that the water-based Tombow Dual Brush Pens not only come in 108 colors but that they are perfect for dyeing natural fibers such as silk and cotton. Fun tip – you can wash the color off the skin with shampoo.
