Today, I’m going to show you how to enhance your natural lashes with mascara. Follow along with this simple tutorial for this great eyelash hack.

Tools and materials:

  • Eyeshadow
  • Small angled brush
  • Dark brown eyeliner
  • Eyelash primer
  • Mascara
Before

1. Darken your eyelashes at the roots

Darkening your eyelashes at the roots will make them look fuller.

Apply a product such as eyeliner (liquid, pencil or powder) or an eyeshadow close to the root of your lashes.

I prefer a dark brown because it’s slightly softer and flattering for all age groups.

Then smudge it in with your finger for a more subtle finish.

For hooded eyes, try using a waterproof pencil. Work it onto the bristles of the brush so you don’t overdo the product.

2. Curl your lashes

Use your preferred type of eyelash curler to lift the lashes from the roots, gently upward.

Try a precise eyelash curler to work on small sections at a time if you have particularly short or straight lashes, or if you find that they work better with your eye shape.

3. Tightline your upper lashes

Another eyelash hack is to use a dark brown eyeliner pencil to coat the upper waterline.

4. Apply eyelash primer

Probably the most important eyelash hack in this tutorial is to use an eyelash primer.

Apply this before your mascara to enhance your natural lashes by keeping them separated and upright.

5. Apply mascara

After you’ve given the lash primer 30-60 seconds to partially dry, apply your favorite mascara.

Making sure the primer only partially dries is key, so that the lashes are still malleable for the mascara application.

As I’m applying the mascara, my lashes aren’t dropping down, thanks to the primer.

Coat your lashes from both the front and the back since the primer can dry a bit dusty-clear.

For super short lashes, you might try lash fibers instead of primer, but I would avoid these if you wear contacts.

This is the best method to naturally enhance your eyelashes when you want them to stand out but you don’t want to use false lashes.

    Great tutorial.

I do wish you would have named the eyelash primer and mascara in your "suggested materials". I will need watch your video again to make note of names.

    Hi

This page is actually created by UpStyle themselves and they are responsible for all the text/copy that’s written. I list and link all the products in the description bar of the video itself, so if you click the video through to my YouTube channel there you will find all the product names and shoppable links. I hope that helps!

    Thanks,

    Shonagh 🫶🏼
